For generations, the Brothers have walked with students—forming lives through presence, faith, and commitment. Today, we walk with them.
The KabarA Challenge is not simply a response to aging. It is a response to a lifetime of faithful witness.
For generations, the Brothers gave themselves to the mission of Lasallian education—teaching, mentoring, accompanying, and shaping young people with patience, rigor, and care. What they offered was never only instruction. It was presence. It was consistency. It was a way of living the Gospel in community.
Now, many of those same Brothers are in a different season of life. Some remain active in ministry. Some continue to serve through prayer, encouragement, and quiet presence. Others now require greater medical and residential support. But their vocation has not ended. Their witness still anchors the District and its ministries.
KabarA helps ensure that this chapter of life is marked not by diminishment, but by dignity. It allows the Brothers to remain surrounded by community, supported with professional care, and honored for the lives they have given in service.

It helps ensure that the Brothers who have accompanied others for decades can continue to live with stability, fraternity, prayer, and respect. It affirms that the mission does not discard those who carried it. It remembers that care, too, is part of the mission.
In Their Own Words
“The KabarA Challenge is a wonderful opportunity to be able to say THANK YOU to God for the opportunity to have been educated by dedicated men, women and Christian Brothers who are committed to a Lasallian Education that is unique in the Catholic education tradition. As a retired Brother, I have seen the care older Brothers received ‘in community with other Brothers,’ and the opportunities they receive in their final years, both physical and psychological. Our opportunities for deep and lasting relationships are many, and thanks to the KabarA Challenge, our elder years are rich because of the goodness of our many former students who support us.”
— Br. Kevin Fitzgerald, FSC · Retired Brother, Midwest District

The Brothers have accompanied generations of students, families, and Lasallian communities. KabarA invites us to accompany them in return—with gratitude, with responsibility, and with care worthy of their vocation.
