Find answers to common questions about the KabarA Challenge, giving, and the Christian Brothers of the Midwest.
The KabarA Challenge is an annual matching-gift fundraiser dedicated to supporting the healthcare and retirement needs of the Christian Brothers of the Midwest. It ensures that senior Brothers receive dignified care in the "final season" of their vocation.
Dr. Jon Kabara was a Lasallian educator and innovator, holding 16 patents. After his passing in 2011, his wife Betty founded the Challenge to honor his devotion to the Brothers who shaped his life.
Funds directly support nursing staff, assisted living costs, skilled nursing care, and medical supplies for the 83 Brothers in the Midwest District, whose average age is 76.
Every individual gift made between May 1 and June 30 is matched dollar-for-dollar by a pool of lead donors, up to $5,000 per gift, until the campaign goal is met.
In specific years or for first-time donors, a special incentive pool may be used to triple the impact of a gift. Check the current campaign banner for this year's specifics.
